JOHN LUNN FLUTES

Redefining The Handmade Flute

In 1977, when I first pictured the flute as a sculpture I imagined a "cherry and stem" pattern with the arms and levers as vines and leaves and stems that grow around the mechanism ending with the key cups as fruit.

This picture shows the "art noveau" footjoint with the angled cluster.

Every aspect of the Lunn flute is hand sculpted to harmonize with the design of each flute so that no two flutes are identical. These thumb keys illustrate how the Lunn design integrates with the leaf pattern.

On completion, I test each flute carefully to assure the quality and evenness of the headjoint, mechanism and complete tonal range.
